Aunty Gina, writing this tribute is not easy because it is difficult to accept that you are no longer with us.
You were truly a remarkable woman whose presence brought warmth, comfort, and joy to everyone around you. One of the things I will always remember about you was your incredible gift for cooking. Your meals were more than just food; they were expressions of love, care, and generosity. There was always something special about the way you prepared meals that made everyone feel welcomed and at home.
You were always there for us during family gatherings, giving your time, energy, and love so selflessly. You played such an important role in bringing the family together, and your presence made every gathering more meaningful and memorable. You had a beautiful way of making each person feel seen, valued, and loved.
You genuinely cared for all of us, and your love was evident in the little things you did and the concern you constantly showed for our well-being. You treated us with kindness, affection, and warmth, and for that, I will always be grateful.
One of my greatest regrets is that I never got the chance to visit you in Abuja despite the many times you invited and requested that I come. I kept thinking there would always be another opportunity, another time to see you, laugh with you, and create more memories together. Today, I wish I had taken that chance. I wish I had come to spend time with you while I still could.
Even though I carry this regret in my heart, I choose to hold on to the beautiful memories of your love, your kindness, your delicious meals, and the way you made our family feel united and cherished.

Tribute to My Dear Friend, Gina

It is difficult to say goodbye to such a wonderful friend. Gina was a truly lovable, kind-hearted, and jovial person. There was never a dull moment around her—her smile and cheerful spirit could brighten anyone’s day.

She was dedicated to her work, always punctual, and carried out her responsibilities with commitment and professionalism. Gina and I were the first staff deployed to Skye Bank, Zaria Branch, and I’m grateful to have shared that journey with her.

Although we hadn’t seen each other for some time before her passing, I made sure we stayed in touch, and I will always cherish those memories.

Your kindness, laughter, and beautiful spirit will remain in my heart forever. You will be deeply missed.

Today we celebrate the life of my dear Aunty Georgina Alabi , a woman whose love touched everyone around her.
Aunty Gina was the definition of loving. She had a way of making you feel seen, safe, and cared for the moment you walked into her presence. Her home was always open, her food was always plenty, and her hugs came without hesitation.
She was caring in the quiet ways that matter most checking on you when you were sick, praying for you when you couldn’t pray for yourself, and showing up even when it was inconvenient. Her kindness was constant.
She was nice to a fault. Aunty Gina spoke well of people, gave generously without keeping score, and believed the best of everyone until proven otherwise. Children, neighbors, and strangers all felt her warmth.
Above all, she was a very good person. Her life was marked by integrity, humility, and a deep love for family. She taught us by example to be gentle, to be grateful, and to put others first.
We will miss her laughter, her advice, and the light she brought into our lives. Though she is gone, the love she gave us remains.
Rest well, Aunty . Thank you for showing us what it means to live with a good heart.

Tribute to My White- Haired Friend

Admiration is a strong word that I would hardly use for anyone. I may tell a person that they are beautiful, kind or any other adjective, but I hardly say ‘I admire you’. Saying this means I am allowing you to be better than me.

But for my White-Haired Friend, I can’t hide anymore, I admired you. Your strength. Your Beauty. Your class. Your demeanor. Your resilience. Unfortunately, you will only hear this as an Angel.

You say this to me always, Nne, you are a strong woman, but Nne, you were ten times stronger than me.

When we met at junction by your Studio 24 office in Kaduna, in the year 2000, White-Haired Prime and Proper classy looking woman, we connected so much so that you could not bring yourself to tell me you were older than me. Our friendship was beautiful. It was beyond flaws or even what material things are.

You were a solid friend who would go any miles to protect those she loved..
You kept me safe from other manipulative girlfriends picking up battles for me and insisting they are no good. You saw through their “shenanigans”…your new found word – lol.
You would say to me, Nne, come oo, one girl just Dey do anyhow, yours is to tell me, and I will show like a squad to scatter them. We got each other’s back mean.

You don’t find those kind of friendships anymore. Therefore, na me and you go still run am. You as Angel, me as mortal. You go nowhere!

Strength is not a thing you lack, rather your wore it as a piece of design meant only for the classy. You carried the issues of life in a container more adoring than most carry their success.

Remembered when you were told that someone was as always following you as a spirit and I said to you better don’t allow the old woman into my house. You said one thing, “Nne, no any old woman is following me, na me the old woman”. And we laughed over it. You did have an ancient soul.

You may have struggled to get somethings in life, but you ended up with the most beautiful things money can never buy, your children. Oh how you wanted to have babies. How you wanted them so badly. You got them. Two beautiful Humans.

You were a warrior. You were a fighter. You were a protector. You were a rare gem. You were a designer. You lived life at your own terms. You were not a push over. Not even in the final days of your life. When you said to me, “Nne, my children have graduation in September, I can’t walk now, but I will be there” never seen such faith so strong and bigger than a mustard seed.

That same faith carried you through this journey. With class, and resilience. You were strong on the inside. You fought for me. You fought for Wale and the boys. You fought for your mom and your siblings.

Then you won. You kicked the freak outta the big C and strutted yourself to heaven. You won My White-Haired Friend. You are a winner.

I remembered you in a song you hold dear to your heart – Chris Morgan’s song “I Do” – a line says I sing because I am free – You are free Nne.
Free from all those secret tears. Free from all the hard conversations we had about EVERYTHING. It is no longer yours to carry.

My dearest Gina,

The news of your passing came as a deep shock to me, especially at a time when I was still trying to process another painful loss. It broke me in ways I cannot fully explain, because you were not just a friend to me — you were one of the best gifts life gave me.

You never allowed age or distance to stand between us. Even though I was far younger than you, you held me so dearly and treated me with so much love. You made me feel seen, valued, and protected. You were more than a friend; you became my sister in every true sense of the word.

We went through the highs and lows of life together. I remember how intentional you were about showing up for me. You would drive me around without complaining, even when my requests came suddenly or at inconvenient times. You never made helping me feel like a burden. You gave your time, your presence, and your heart so freely.

I will always remember your creativity — how you could take ordinary things that others might overlook and turn them into something beautiful. You had a special gift for creating beauty, not just with your hands, but also with your heart. You brought light, warmth, and color into the lives of those around you.

During my low moments, you cared for me, advised me, encouraged me, and reminded me to keep going. You were faith-filled, prayerful, loving, and strong. You carried so much grace, and you had a way of comforting others even when life was not easy for you.

You were the elder sister I never had.you took me in I took care of me like your own blood.
You were my best kitchen teacher, you taught me how to cook well,not just the soup, the spice but how to taste with patience and how to stir with care.
You were also my cheerleader, when I doubted myself you encouraged me,your voice was soft but your belief in me was loud.
You made everyone around you feel chosen safe and loved.turning ordinary days into something rare.
You gave me strength to Wake up at midnight and pray (my prayer warrior auntie)even though I don’t pray with you but whenever I hear your voice I pick up my Bible and pray in my room.
You taught me how to dress well and reasons I need to dress up(my fashionista auntie)giving me so much gifts like clothes, shoes, bags jewelries and lot more wonderful things.
You were preparing me on how to be a good wife to a man even when I told you I don’t have anyone I was seeing.
You were the true definition of love and humility.
Thank you so much for the love you shared to people around you.
Heaven gained an angel and I lost a very special one.i will miss you so much auntie I’ll cook with love, keep home with pride and live the lessons you gave each day.
